Hello to all.
I have created a jig to hold a piece of material that is 1.5' wide, 1' thick and 5' long.
The .25' slot was created with a simple rectangle, 3' long located in the center of the material.
When creating the tool path (and in actual operation), the tool path wants to start at the center of the material, move up the 'Y' axis (1.5') lift and return to center. It performs this task 9 times (I'm still very green when it comes to tool loads) The tool path then returns to center, and performs the same operation moving down the 'Y' axis (1.5') until the slot is complete.
The material I am milling the slot in is yellow pine and because of that, the material pieces may vary slightly. This of course cause a little slop in the jig. The slot isn't do or die critical but I would like it to be somewhat uniform. With the way the slot is being cut there is sometimes a little bump in the center of the slot caused by the rotation of the tool and the direction of travel on the 'Y' axis. IE. moving up the 'Y' axis the material may twist slightly to the right and when moving down the 'Y' axis the material may twist left.
Explaining all that.... (sorry so verbose..) ..

45 Degree V-slot Cutter

I am trying to figure out how to mill a .25' slot in the center of the material using a single direction 3' long pass. I'm not worried about the number of passes it takes to clear 1' of material (although any and ALL advise is appreciated..)
I am using a .25' end mill.
I have 80 pieces of material to slot... I sure would appreciate any assistance.
Thank you ..
